Throughout the country, state parks, historic sites, homes, buildings, museums, and similar institutions are struggling to continue operating. Because of general financial problems, many of these institutions are operating on a reduced schedule or in danger of closing. Some are being forced to sell off artifacts and property. Many will not weather these hard times without your help. Places Earth urges everyone to support these vital and important public resources any way you can. Please donate your treasure, time, and talent. Write to your governor and other elected officials telling them to find a way to keep state parks open. It will be your loss. Public Service Announcement | Test space for future ad if donations don't increase. |

The East California Museum in Independence, California, is one of the finest small town museums I have seen. The museum is divided into three main sections. The interior contains numerous exhibits of local history including an emphasis on Manzanar National Historic Site which is located a few miles south. A lage exterior exhibit space includes old buildings and all types of equipment from farming, aquiduct building, mining, and other. Across the parking lot is a nature trail through native plants and natural runnnig creeks. One of the most popular exhibits is the "coyote dentures" which were home made by an inexperienced man using coyote teeth. The museum is a block west of Highway 395 near the Courthouse. |

| One of the most popular exhibits at the East California Museum are the Coyote Dentures, hand made by a man who never made dentures before using melted toothbrush handles and teeth fro ma coyote. |
