Historic Sites and Museums need your help.
Throughout the country, important historic sites, homes, buildings, and museums are in trouble. Because of the recent rise in gasoline prices and the general world-wide financial collapse, historic sites and museums are in danger of closing. Some are being forced to sell off artifacts and property. Most operate on a thin margin and will not weather these hard times without your help.
Places Earth urges everyone to support these vital and important public resources any way you can. Please find a worthy local or distant historic site or museum that is in financial danger and donate your treasure, time, and talent.

Saint Vincent Court is a small dead-end side street (alley) off 7th Street in the heart of the Los Angeles jewelry district. There is little today to point to the historic significance of this little street, except for a historic marker above a fountain near the 7th Street end. Today quaint restaurants, delis, and shops attempt to form an international street on the site where the first institution of higher learning in Southern California was founded. Saint Vincent College was founded by the Vincentian Fathers in 1865 and operated on the site from 1868 to 1887, developing into Loyola University.
Occupying a narrow canyon between two tall buildings, the street provides a cool shaded space to escape from the Southern California heat. In two places, bridge buildings cross over the court increasing the intimacy of the space. The facades of the buildings a decorated in international motifs
including a miniature State of Liberty.
Saint Vincent Court is located between Broadway and Hill, extending northeast from 7th Street.
Saint Vincent Court is now California Registered Historical Landmark # 567. Plaque placed by California State Park Commission in cooperation with the County of Los Angeles and Bullock's Inc. on September 4, 1957. Rededicated by Los Angeles United Investment Co. 1984.
