State Parks, Historic Sites, and Museums need your help.

Throughout the country, important state parks, historic sites, homes, buildings, museums, and similar institutions are in trouble. Because of high gasoline prices and general financial problems, many of these institutions are operating on a reduced schedule or in danger of closing. Some are being forced to sell off artifacts and property. Most operate on a thin margin and will not weather these hard times without your help.

Places Earth urges everyone to support these vital and important public resources any way you can. Please find a worthy historic site or museum that is in financial danger and donate your treasure, time, and talent. Write to your governor and other elected officials telling them to find a way to keep these parks open. It will be your loss.

Disney California Adventure

I have visited Disneyland theme park in California many times. I've been to the new Disney California Adventure three times now.

Disney California Adventure opened February 8, 2001 on about 40 acres of the former 120 acre Disneyland parking lot. To replace the parking lot, the largest parking structure in the United States was built west of Disneyland. Other elements of the expansion included new hotel (750-room Grand Californian) and retail (Downtown Disney) space. The park is divided into four areas, The Golden State, Hollywood Pictures Backlot, Paradise Pier, A Bug's Land. The Golden State is subdivided into areas resembling Yosemite National Park, The Wine Country, Cannery Row, the aerospace industry, and farming. The park includes about two dozen rides and attractions.
