State Parks, Historic Sites, and Museums need your help.
Throughout the country, state parks, historic sites, homes, buildings, museums, and similar institutions are struggling to continue operating. Because of general financial problems, many of these institutions are operating on a reduced schedule or in danger of closing. Some are being forced to sell off artifacts and property. Many will not weather these hard times without your help.

Places Earth urges everyone to support these vital and important public resources any way you can. Please donate your treasure, time, and talent. Write to your governor and other elected officials telling them to find a way to keep state parks open. It will be your loss.

Knott's Berry Farm and Ghost Town

Walter Knott once owned Calico Ghost Town and while many people think that some of these buildings were brought to Knott's Berry Farm, scholars believe that most of the buildings came from Arizona.

While I've been to Knott's Berry Farm many times, those early photos are slides which have not been scanned. I only recently visited with a digital camera and will start adding these photos soon.

Accross the Street

The amusement park Knott's Berry Farm became with some old imported buildings that people could walk through while awaiting one of Mrs. Knott's famous chicken dinners. Eventually the park grew to included some fast and thrilling roller coasters and other thrill rides. Still, some quiet areas can be found, one of which is a large area across Beach Boulevard from the main park. Here, between the underpass below Beach Boulevard and Soak City are picnic areas (one for corporate events) and a recreation of Independence Hall, as accurate as building codes will allow. Within the building is an exact copy of the Liberty Bell, complete with the famous crack.

This underpass beneath Beach Boulevard connects the main park to Soak City, picnic areas, Independence Hall, and additional parking areas.

The plaque says:
