Throughout the country, state parks, historic sites, homes, buildings, museums, and similar institutions are struggling to continue operating. Because of general financial problems, many of these institutions are operating on a reduced schedule or in danger of closing. Some are being forced to sell off artifacts and property. Many will not weather these hard times without your help. Places Earth urges everyone to support these vital and important public resources any way you can. Please donate your treasure, time, and talent. Write to your governor and other elected officials telling them to find a way to keep state parks open. It will be your loss. Public Service Announcement | Test space for future ad if donations don't increase. |

In mid-2005, I was hoping to take my wife to Wild Bill's Dinner Extravaganza but could find no information on it. While in the are, we drove by to discover that Wild Bill's was being replaced by Pirate's Dinner Adventure. We monitored the progress of the construction and I secretly made reservations for my wife's birthday which was four days after the opening. Pirate's Dinner Adventure opened Tuesday, December 27, 2005 in the building that formerly housed Wild Bill's Dinner Extravaganza. The building did not change much on the exterior except for accessories. The western themed wagons and such were gone and a large pirate face graced the tower and pirate flags flew from the flag poles. Upon entering, guests pose for souvenir photos with a life size fiberglass pirate figure then enter he queue/pre-show waiting area. The floor plan of the queue hadn't changed much, but this is where the similarities ended. We were so full from complementary appetizers, we hardly had room for dinner. A bar provides drinks for a fee and a gift shop sells pirate souvenirs. We had been told to come two hours early and just as we were about to wonder what to do next, the pre-show started. The Pirate and his henchman kidnaped the Princess in one room and escaped through a door to re-emerge from a door behind the bar that lead to a small stage. A Gypsy made a magical appearance and began to perform breathtaking acrobatics. A dramatic action scene broke out and the pirates escaped with the Princess and the gypsy as captives. At this time, the audience was divided into groups and lead to the dinner theater. The theater is a large space with a small ocean and pirate ship in the center. Dining is stadium seating around the ship with no bad views. The show consists of contests of skills between the pirates, competitions involving the audience, pirates swinging from ropes, acrobatics, and more. The food was satisfying and plentiful. Location: Pirate's Dinner Adventure is located in the Entertainment Strip of Buena Park, within a few steps of Knott's Berry Farm and Medieval Times. It is only a few miles from I-5 and 91 freeways. 7600 Beach Boulevard Buena Park, CA 90620 1-866-439-2469 |
