Throughout the country, state parks, historic sites, homes, buildings, museums, and similar institutions are struggling to continue operating. Because of general financial problems, many of these institutions are operating on a reduced schedule or in danger of closing. Some are being forced to sell off artifacts and property. Many will not weather these hard times without your help. Places Earth urges everyone to support these vital and important public resources any way you can. Please donate your treasure, time, and talent. Write to your governor and other elected officials telling them to find a way to keep state parks open. It will be your loss. Public Service Announcement | Test space for future ad if donations don't increase. |

Stewarts Boathouse sits on the edge of a large lake in Fairmount Park in the City of Riverside. Fairmount Park is the largest park and the second oldest in Riverside. Included in the 190 acres is the 40 acre Lake Evans. The park opened on Arbor Day, April 9, 1898, 15 after the incorporation of the City of Riverside. The park was designed by the sons of Frederick Law Olmsted, the designer of Central Park in New York. Stewarts Boathouse was dedicated in 1995, replacing an earlier structure on the same site. The Boathouse was designer by Robert Stewart and a team of volunteers in the mission revival design reminiscent of the original. The boathouse in is two levels. The lower level shelters pedal boats, available for rental, the upper lever is the Lakeside Room, a 1800 square foot event rental space.
Hours for pedal boat rentals:
February - March; Saturday & Sunday, 10 A.M. - 4:00 P.M.
April - May; Saturday & Sunday, 10 A.M. - 6:00 P.M.
June - August; Thursday - Tuesday, 10 A.M. - 7:00 P.M.
September - Mid December; Saturday & Sunday, 10 A.M. - 6:00 P.M.
Note, I have never seen the boathouse open. Don't blame me if it isn't open when you visit.
Address: 2601 Fairmount Boulevard, near the Market Street Exit of the I-10 Freeway.
