State Parks, Historic Sites, and Museums need your help.

Throughout the country, state parks, historic sites, homes, buildings, museums, and similar institutions are struggling to continue operating. Because of general financial problems, many of these institutions are operating on a reduced schedule or in danger of closing. Some are being forced to sell off artifacts and property. Many will not weather these hard times without your help.

Places Earth urges everyone to support these vital and important public resources any way you can. Please donate your treasure, time, and talent. Write to your governor and other elected officials telling them to find a way to keep state parks open. It will be your loss.

In a quiet neighborhood on the north side on Redlands, inside a simple Victorian era house, is the unique American Glassware Museum. The museum is the only known museum dedicated to the display of American manufactured glassware and displays glass from every American glass manufacturer from 1800. The Historic Glass Museum was founded in 1976 by a group of collectors headed by Dixie Huckabee.

The museum is house in a 1903 Victorian home. The house once belonged to Redlands settlers Jerome E. and Martha Seymour. The house is believed to have been built from wood from the historic J. D. B. Stillman Winery once located at the current site of the University of Redlands. The house is filled with ornate woodwork.
