Places, Earth Oak Glen

State Parks, Historic Sites, and Museums need your help. Throughout the country, state parks, historic sites, homes, buildings, museums, and similar institutions are struggling to continue operating. Because of general financial problems, many of these institutions are operating on a reduced schedule or in danger of closing. Some are being forced to sell off artifacts and property. Many will not weather these hard times without your help. Places Earth urges everyone to support these vital and important public resources any way you can. Please donate your treasure, time, and talent. Write to your governor and other elected officials telling them to find a way to keep state parks open. It will be your loss. Not far off Interstate 10, a little east of Redlands, is the community of Oak Glen. While not high in the mountains, it's just high enough in the foothills to have a perfect climate for growing apples. A number of apple ranches cater to tourists. Mid September to Mid November are the best times to come for apples. During winter months, Oak Glen often gets snow which is easily accessible because the roads are ploughed.

Originally Potato Canyon because the first crop grown were potatoes.

Los Rios Rancho is the oldest operating apple ranch in southern California. Founded 1888 by the Wilshire Brother and sold to Rivers family in 1906. U-Pick orchard.
