Throughout the country, state parks, historic sites, homes, buildings, museums, and similar institutions are struggling to continue operating. Because of general financial problems, many of these institutions are operating on a reduced schedule or in danger of closing. Some are being forced to sell off artifacts and property. Many will not weather these hard times without your help. Places Earth urges everyone to support these vital and important public resources any way you can. Please donate your treasure, time, and talent. Write to your governor and other elected officials telling them to find a way to keep state parks open. It will be your loss. In recent years, Reno has become famous for gaming and entertainment, but it also has a rich historic past. Although Reno is still in the deserts of Nevada, it is only a short drive to the forest surrounded Lake Tahoe.
The Famous Reno Arch is somewhare lost amid all the glitter of Reno.
The Fleischmann Planetarium is an example of the cultural and educational riches of Reno.
Washoe County Court House
It's not all fun and sin in Reno, there are many beautiful churches, such as Saint Thomas Aquinas, that save souls.
The Atlantis Casio is one of the newer casinos in Reno. It is covered here because it was the first large casino encountered by the author as he entered the city from the south.
Circus Circus is one of the older casinos located in the center of town.
