State Parks, Historic Sites, and Museums need your help.

Throughout the country, state parks, historic sites, homes, buildings, museums, and similar institutions are struggling to continue operating. Because of general financial problems, many of these institutions are operating on a reduced schedule or in danger of closing. Some are being forced to sell off artifacts and property. Many will not weather these hard times without your help.

Places Earth urges everyone to support these vital and important public resources any way you can. Please donate your treasure, time, and talent. Write to your governor and other elected officials telling them to find a way to keep state parks open. It will be your loss.

On Friday, November 22, 1963, President John F. Kennedy was fatally shot from a window on the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository in Dallas, Texas. Today this event is remembered at the Sixth Floor Museum on the sixth floor of that same building. Visitors to the museum ride to the sixth floor in an elevation and then follow the auvio tour through the exhibits, watch the videos, and look at the corner where Lee Harvey Oswald waited and fired, and look out the window to the two Xs on the pavement below beside Dealey Plaza where the president's car was when the shots were fired. There is a memorial to President Kennedy a few blocks east.

The museum is open:
Tuesday–Sunday, 10 a.m.–6 p.m.
Monday, 12 p.m.–6 p.m.
Closed Thanksgiving and Christmas

Location:
